Mother's Only Sleeping

I learned this one in the key of G, which was how the band I was playing with at the time did it. It's a reflective spiritual song, and it sounds good with half-verse breaks.

Bill Monroe recorded Mother's Only Sleeping twice, in 1946 (duetting with Lester Flatt) and in 1972 (with his son James).

It was also recorded by the Stanley Brothers on Wango, and re-released on the County LP "That Little Old Country Church House", County 738.
